Seahouses Middle School library provides a relaxed place for students to access reading materials for classroom or home reading and also for students to work on research projects. All books are requested and sent via the School Library Service who, on request, come into school to update and renew the books. The library is organised into two sections: reference and topic books and fictional books, some of which have been included in the Accelerated Reader Scheme.
The children are invited into the library on Tuesday and Wednesday lunch times from 12:45pm until 1:15pm when they can spend their time looking through books, have access to a computer to complete reading quizzes or educational games and to simply tell others about their reading experiences. Books can be signed out on loan from the library and are renewed on a regular basis. Topic and reference books are used in the school classroom daily to support topic learning; these are renewed every term. There are two librarians who see to the day to day running of the library as well as eight junior librarians who apply for this role at the start of the school year.
